‘Self-discovery’ featuring Mother Land
Leah Franqui’s moving novel is a story of two cultures colliding. After Rachel marries Indian expat Dhruv in New York, they move to Mumbai together. But when Rachel’s mother-in-law Swati moves into their new home, everything changes.
This is a story about expectations – those that others put on you, and those that you put on yourself. It’s about different cultures, compromise and openness to change.
We felt this was a truly uplifting tale about self-discovery and fresh perspectives. It transported us to India, with all its sights and smells, and we loved how real the characters felt. We hope you do too.
The gifts
As the setting for Mother Land, India inspired us just a little bit in August. So yes, our gifts include sweet, fragrant spices. But we also wanted to share with you a moment of reflection – so you can sit back and have some time just for you.
Swati’s chai tea
Handmade by British-Indian spice entrepreneur, Mahbir Thukral, this delicious chai tea mix was created just for you – inspired by Swati in the story, Mother Land. A blend of Assam tea, green cardamom, true cinnamon, anise seeds and ginger, it’s soothing and refreshing whatever the weather.
Tea Strainer
It’s time to get infused for the first chapter of Mother Land! So sit back, relax and brew your chai with the help of our Feel Good Book Club strainer. Follow Mahbir’s recipe and sip your spicy chai from the comfort of your reading spot while Mother Land takes you to India.
Stroopwafel
Okay, so there’s nothing very Indian about these yummy little waffles – but we think there’s really no better companion for a mindful moment of self-reflection than a delicious brew and a sweet treat.
